                                                                                  Press Release

The Board of Directors of Persons Associated with Visual Impairment (PAVI) wishes to express sincere thanks to the media houses that supported us with our press conference on Monday 30th January, 2017. Your support enabled us to secure a meeting with the Honourable Minister of Social Development and Family Services, after trying to get an audience with her since January 2016.

The meeting was held on February 2nd, 2017 where requests were made of us to submit documents previously submitted. Requests were also made for new information and we were finally furnished with the clarity we were seeking for so long, on our status with the Ministry and the way forward in the pursuit of funding.

The organization still remains in a critical situation, after having been without a subvention for thirteen months. Nonetheless, we are prepared to work with the Ministry in the fulfilment of the requirements, as per an email received on February 3rd, 2017 detailing these requirements for the First Time. It is hoped that we would receive the necessary approval and subsequent expedition of the subvention renewal, as we are eager to continue with our service to the marginalized and neglected community of persons with visual impairment.

PAVI has endeavoured to raise funds in the past and we would continue to do so in a more aggressive manner in light of the current economic uncertainty.
